What’s On Your Mind?

Nothing is on my mind except that I have a brain that tells me to sleep after eating. But how can I sleep when I am so busy finishing my tasks? And another busy person who happens to be my colleague is Anna. She is the last person I saw before reading Daily Post’s prompt: Whether it’s a family member, a coworker, or a total stranger, write a post about what that person is thinking right now.

I respect what other people think so I decided not to be consumed with assumptions. Even if Anna is my friend, I don’t want to disturb her silence by just asking nonsense stuff because she is darn busy. This post is important so I just asked her right away. So I asked her bluntly, “What’s on your mind?” Being the accomodating person that she is, she answered back. With that, I am indebted to her for this post.

“Nothing’s on my mind,” she said. I asked her again and again what pops into her head at this present moment. She’s just hoping that her hubby would strike 5 million for TOTO (lottery) today. But it is so hard to win the lottery. It’s just like punching the moon and standing on the water. On my mind, I hope I would win, too. She has no idea that her answer made me smile. Blame it to my shallow nature or my feeble mind but I am happy that she answered me for my question and that I was able to write about this post. It’s been quite awhile since I left my blog lurking with no recent posts.

My post today is very simple but the lesson that goes with it is profound, or so I thought. If you want to smile amidst all the hustle and bustle of life, talk to a friend. A short chit-chat with a friend would make your mind rest while cortisol levels are maintained and blood pressures become normal. And that’s just what I did now while inhaling and exhaling and writing this post.

Oh, by the way, after our conversation, she sent me this dancing panda. Isn’t she cool? 😀

My heartfelt thanks, Anna. If this post gets freshly pressed, I am forever indebted to you. You deserve a real panda and a win for the lottery. 🙂

Necessities On A Deserted Island

If there are only five items to bring on a deserted island, I would have to bring the following:

  • Big tent or tarp – this will serve as my protection from the heat
  • Water bottle with filter – for a clean drink anytime
  • First aid kit – self-explanatory
  • Knife – for safety? hahaha! 🙂
  • Friend – so I will never be bored and if I die, at least we die together 😀

Too bad, I can only bring five items. But if I have to bring only one, I’d bring my friend. 😀

When Times Get Rough, We Gotta Play Ball

I am an adult or so I thought. I hope these photos would make you smile and would make you want to capture funny, priceless, endearing moments. A cheesy cliché but it makes sense when you feel your world is too heavy or harsh. Funny photos bring out the kid in you, would make you remember that life is indeed good. So, cheer up!

I may be overreacting but I am euphoric that I have found a way to cope with stress. In this image, I am playing with my team mate, Celeste. I cannot find the right word more apt to describe this act, but PLAY. In the midst of our UAT, deployment chaos and unreasonable deadlines, stress is not evident in our faces. To appease ourselves, we played the magic ball of fire in my mac.

The ball was so fast and we want to catch it so we can have a good shot. The plan was to catch the ball the moment it landed on the middle of the screen.

And then, it went down. Oh my ball, oh my ball! We both screamed, as if scream is the right word to use. What I am sure of is we were both squealing and giggling. There is  a  happy thump in my heart and this time,  I really felt it.

Image

It seems like the ball does not want to be caught at all. Are we going to give up? A big NO. Even if this just a play, giving up is not in our vocabulary. Look at how my friend gamely posed for these photos. All candid shots, no revisions or Photoshop.

To touch the ball was like heaven to me. Hahaha, what a hyperbole of a moment! Let us talk about capturing awesome moments like these!

Finally, the ball landed to her! She is the winner but there is no contest. This is the first time we did this “thing” and we somehow felt like fools. After all, we are big kids with big responsibilities. I cannot thank her enough for giving in to my childish ways but I am grateful she opted to play with me. What is life without friends? I would rather not know.

If this is not TEAM WORK, I do not know what is!

Note: Thanks to my cool and loving team mate for bearing with me. It is hard to find a team mate who is a nice person on a personal and professional level. My heartfelt thanks, Cel. 🙂
